Catch Pecharunt in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet: Pecharunt is a Mythical Pokémon found exclusively in the epilogue for the Pokémon Scarlet and Violet DLC, The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero, in Generation 9.
If you’re looking to catch Pecharunt in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, knowing how to begin the Scarlet and Violet epilogue, known as Mochi Mayhem, is essential. Otherwise, your Pokédex will have a missing entry for quite some time.
After completing that, continue reading to discover how to obtain Pecharunt in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet.
How to get Pecharunt in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet
To catch Pecharunt in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, players must first obtain the Mythical Pecha Berry and then complete Mochi Mayhem, the epilogue for The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero. You’ll encounter Pecharunt in the Loyalty Plaza of the Kitakami during the closing moments of this epilogue, but catching it won’t be immediate.
Instead, prepare for another intense battle reminiscent of your encounters with the formidable Titan Pokémon and The Loyal Three. Fortunately, once you’ve depleted Pecharunt’s health, you can capture it.
Pecharunt weaknesses, moveset and ability in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet
Pecharunt is a Pokémon that is both Poison and Ghost-type. As a result, it is vulnerable to Dark, Ghost, Ground, and Psychic-type attacks.
Although the battle doesn’t explicitly mention it, Pecharunt is actually at Level 88 during the fight and possesses the following moves:
- A dark-type move that increases the user’s Special Attack stat.
- Poisonous (Poison-type) – Inflicts severe poisoning on the target, escalating the poison damage over time.
- Malignant Chain is a Poison-type attack with a Power of 100 and an Accuracy of 100. Inflicts a severe poisoning effect on the target.
- Shadow Ball is a Ghost-type attack with a power of 80 and an accuracy 100. Reduces the Sp. Def stat of the target.
The Poison Puppeteer’s ability ensures that any Pokémon affected by its attacks will become confused. It can be pretty frustrating when your Pokémon takes damage from their attack, Pecharunt’s attack, and the poison status effect. It’s not a pleasant situation to deal with.
To counteract this ability, you can equip your Pokémon with a Pecha Berry. This item will automatically cure any poisoning. Just a heads up – this method is a one-time deal. Once your Pokémon consumes a berry, it won’t be available anymore.
Pokémon Scarlet
Snorlax, Zangoose, and Gligar can be immunized, making them immune to the poison status effect. It’s worth mentioning that Gligar has a hidden ability and can only be found in Pokémon Scarlet. If you’re playing Violet, you’ll have to trade for it. If you choose to use one of these Pokémon against Pecharunt, ensure it has at least one attack that exploits Pecharunt’s weaknesses.
In my experience, I discovered that using Psychic-type attacks was the most effective strategy against Pecharunt. I would send out my Armarouge to unleash a powerful Psychic attack on it. (Even though this Pokémon is Level 100, it’s a good idea to have some backup options if your Pokémon are at lower levels.) Avoid using Ghost-type Pokémon, as Pecharunt’s Shadow Ball can easily knock them out with just one hit.
Pecharunt is a guaranteed catch, so you can use any Poké Ball. (I decided to use a Luxury Ball because I wanted to add a touch of elegance.) I suggest not using a Master Ball and keeping it for a much rarer Pokémon.
Is Pecharunt shiny in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet?
Unfortunately, Pecharunt cannot have a shiny form in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet.
Like some Pokémon you encounter in the Scarlet and Violet storylines, like the Loyal Three and Bloodmoon Ursaluna, Pecharunt is shiny-locked. Although it’s unfortunate, at least you won’t have to keep restarting the game to find its shiny form.
Everything to know about How to Catch Pecharunt
Pecharunt is the sole Mythical Pokémon introduced in Gen 9. It remains uncertain if another Mythical Pokémon will appear in this generation.
What is known is that Pecharunt is the creator and trio master for the Loyal Three, which includes Fezandipiti, Munkidori, and Okidogi. Pecharunt’s portrait in the Pokédex hints at this fact, featuring the Loyal Three in the background. Its entry in the Pokémon Scarlet Pokédex states: ‘It feeds others toxic mochi that bring out their desires and abilities.’ Anyone who consumes the mochi becomes subject to Pecharunt’s influence, bound to its desires.
Pecharunt is classified as the Subjugation Pokémon because of its ability to exert mind control through its toxic mochi. The reason behind the Loyal Three all being Poison-type and having the Toxic Chain ability is that they are under Pecharunt’s control.
Pecharunt initiated the events that ultimately led to Ogerpon being demonized in the Kitakami region. If you check out the signpost in Loyalty Plaza, you’ll notice something resembling Pecharunt’s toxic chain connected to the trainer guiding the Loyal Three. Pecharunt’s actions led to the events of The Teal Mask DLC, establishing it as the true antagonist of The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero DLC.
Wishing you the best in catching Pecharunt!
