KarmaZoo Review

KarmaZoo is such a cute game! It’s one of my favorites this year. You can shoot hearts at your teammates to spread love in the game. I haven’t played any other game that offers such a unique experience.

KarmaZoo Puzzle Game

KarmaZoo is a game that focuses on cooperative puzzle platforming. Sometimes in the game, you might encounter situations where one player has to unlock a door for another player to go through. There may also be instances where one player needs to sing to activate a platform for another player to stand on. The formula is simple to understand and simple enough. It might be a problem for some people, but the developers made it complex enough to attract new players to the genre while still being enjoyable for experienced players.

KarmaZoo Levels

Levels are split into “loops” that resemble a roguelike run. The levels are carefully created and chosen from a collection of more than 300 based on the selected characters. After finishing a level, players vote on a card to use for the next one. It is a fun feature because it allows for exciting choices, such as making everyone play as the same character or activating a saxophone to play along with the background music, which is a favorite among my group. Playing with these was fun, even though they don’t always affect the gameplay.

Gameplay

A critical aspect of the gameplay is the variety of playable characters. Various creatures with unique abilities, like gliding owls, singing lions, and even flower pots, can make platforms with their flowers. You can unlock 50 of these, so there’s plenty of replay value. Plus, with the option to play with up to 10 people, the combinations could get crazy! I was disappointed that some characters had the same or similar abilities instead of being truly unique.

Different Level Types

However, we still had a great time despite that. It was enjoyable to play with loops and experiment with different character combinations. Activating the silly level effects was also entertaining. The game also offers a competitive mode called Totem, which can be played online or locally, and that was a lot of fun as well. That mode has a bunch of different level types, like races or eating challenges, and it was cool to see how the developers could take simple concepts like that and craft a ton of levels that all feel different from each other and try new things.

MultiPlayer Game

I’m worried about how long the game will last. It is not a game that can be played solo. Like, it does not work. If you try to join a loop or create your own, you will be placed in a lobby with a message saying that two players must proceed. Unsurprisingly, the gameplay is only possible to complete with help. It is essential because playing will be challenging once the player base decreases.

The game is fun but will have a few players after a few months. By then, you might have one or two teammates. However, what about a year from now? It may not be worth it.

Recommendations

That said, I would like to give KarmaZoo a mild recommendation. It’s a fun cooperative puzzle game that’s great to play with friends. There are many characters to unlock different levels to play, and the competitive Totem mode is also enjoyable. If you need a group to play with, you must rely on the online player base. However, I think it will be brief, so keep that in mind.

3. After downloading KarmaZoo, right-click the .zip file and select “Extract to KarmaZoo”. Ensure you have 7-Zip installed on your device, which you can download from here.

4. To open the KarmaZoo folder, double-click on it. Then, run the exe application.

5. Enjoy yourself and engage in play! To avoid any issues, run the game as an administrator. If you encounter any missing dll errors, check for a Redist or _CommonRedist folder and install all the programs in that folder.
